Dandelion seeds

Make a wish

I love shooting these  lovely dandelions!

Soft, delicate, flyaway little fairy seeds.

Brecon Beacons waterfall walk

Horseshoe falls

So we went on a walk in the Brecon Beacons to follow one of the waterfall trails. We got up early to avoid the crowd as we wanted to do some long exposure photography. We decided to follow the trail for Horseshoe falls, which is only 1.3 miles and the walk is pretty easy. We did the trail backwards and started at Pont Melin-Fach car park.

The weather was good but spring had not arrived up in the Brecon Beacons, the trees were still bare and it looked quite bleak still! Very different from where we live by Monmouth with all the lush greenery and the trees in full blossom.

I think we will go back in the summer when it’s greener! Well worth a visit at any time though.

Ballet concept

To get the reflections we had to create an indoor shallow pool in our studio! We did two different shoots for the concept, with similar poses for each style of ballet shoe. We also wanted to create a ripple going through the photo to make it a more dream like quality, which is not so simple when there’s only two of us and I’m standing on one leg.

The whole concept of the photo is that we are who we are, we all have more than one side to our personality. This is our essence , our being, the reality, even if we may see it as an illusion.

The final result is with the two images merged together to give the concept form.

Illusion II

Here’s a few more ballet concept photos.

Split personality

Dipping your toe into another reality… Testing the waters.

Corpse de Ballet

Places this image in context of proving one’s worth at audition with an impossibly audacious feat that’s likely to result in suicide, the number of angels qualified to dance on the head of a pin, and whether Lucifer’s fall was the consequence of the damnable sin of pride or simple self-confidence.

The ribbon represents the path that the ballerina has taken, with her steps and pirouettes. . .

Beautiful blue grape hyacinth – I love blue…

Just picked these out of the garden to do a few macro shots. It did seem like spring but now it is snowing.

Proof fairy’s really do exist!

I really do think our garden does lend itself to some fairy tale scenery. It’s quite overgrown with lots of giant cow parsley, long grasses and wild flowers but this is the way we like it.
